Minimization of water and chemical usage in the cleaning in place process of a milk pasteurization plant

چکیده
Cleaning in place (CIP) is a method of cleaning inner surfaces of piping, vessel, equipment, and associated fitting with disassembly. Although, the CIP processes have been studied continually to improve efficiency for chemical and water consumption, the real conventional plant operations of this process still have been considered as a large amount of consumption. The objectives of this work are to study process behaviors and to find out the optimal draining ratio of the CIP cleaning chemicals in a pasteurized milk plant. To achieve these, mathematical models of the CIP process have been developed and validated by the actual process data. With these models, simulation study has been carried out to describe the dynamic behaviors of the process with respect to the concentrations and contaminations in CIP cleaning chemicals. The optimization problem has been formulated and solved using written programs based on MATLAB application program.

Study of Combined Ultrasound-microwave Effect on Chemical Compositions and E. coli Count of Rose Aromatic Water
Since the rose water is used in food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products, its microbiological control is necessary. Conventional pasteurization methods cause undesirable changes in taste, smell, medicinal properties and nutritional value with decreasing the amount of essential oil, because of high temperatures. In this study, the effects of the microwave power, temperature, ultrasound power,...
متن کاملHow to Optimize Clean - in - Place ( CIP ) Processes in Food and Beverage Operations
Existing clean-in-place (CIP) processes are time intensive and waste large amounts of energy, water, and chemicals. New innovations in CIP technology allow plant operators to cut costs in an earth-friendly manner while still conforming to regulatory safety standards. This paper explains how new CIP technologies can improve production efficiency by at least 20% while enhancing the ability to tra...

متن کاملChemical and Microbial Quality of Iranian Commercial Pasteurized Milk Samples at Their Expiration Date
Background: Milk can provide a good medium for growth and proliferation of various spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the chemical and microbial quality of Iranian commercial pasteurized milk samples at their expiration date. Methods: Hundred samples of pasteurized milk packaged in polyethylene pouches were randomly collected from local markets o...
متن کاملPhenotypic characterizationand PCR-ribotyping of Pseudomonas fluorescensisolates, in tracking contamination routes in the production line of pasteurized milk
Contamination sites of Pseudomonas fluorescenswere traced in the production line for milk pasteurization in a large dairy plant in Shiraz, Iran. Samples of raw and pasteurized milk were collected at six sites along the line. All milk samples were incubated at 7°C until the aerobic plate count had reached 10 6 -10 7 cfu mL-1. Colonies were picked randomly and identified. No growth of gram negati...
